I am from the American South, but my heart is in Ghana, West Africa. I have done a lot of volunteer library work there, mainly in an around Ho, as well at the Univ. of Ghana. I now want to move to the country permanently - hopefully in October 08. My plan is to live on my rather small retirement income and do volunteer work. Specifically, I want to know how to go about getting into the country with the intention of remaining. It seems that immigration wants you to have a job (which I won't), or marry a Ghanian (none have proposed). One source advised entering the country on a 90 day visa and working it out after I get there. This seems rather problamatic since I need to divest myself of my car, my young lover, and the most difficult of all - my cat, Miss Ellie! I am in my 60's, in excellent health, am considered attractive and "young for my age, " have a spirit of adventure, and am anxious to return to Ghana!
